Reasons: 1. To try my own ideas out on what should be effective (I'm not a great fan of strictly following patterns, I get bored with that too easily) 2. When I can't fish, at least I can tie...not a good idea to fish during thunderstorms 3. An outlet for some creativity 4. To try to imitate or improive on patterns that I see (this is the least important to me)
