I can tie a blood knot in the field. Guess it's cause i'm used to tying knots all day at work. Instead of a Blood knot, try a uni-to-uni knot. It's basically a cinch(or clinch depending on your locality) tied to another cinch(or again, clinch). I use this knot to tie Mono to Braid, Mono to Floro, Braid to Floro, and just about anything else when I join lines, except fly line to leader, which I use a Nail knot to a piece of heavy line and then tie a Perfection Loop, making loop to loop connections a breeze.

Hope this helps some. I wouldnt bother with a tool. Like others have said, its just another piece of equipment to get in the way. It's also something you'll grow accustomed too, which isnt that great. In an emergency, I can tie a nail knot without a nail. it's a pain but it can be done.

Hi Yaw all

I am trying to understand more about leaders and tippets

I have read about the Frog hair leader tool for making blood knots.

Is it worth it?

Is it better to make a leader or buy one?

I see everyone of me friends with the spools of tippet hanging on their
vest,

I have yet to meet someone that can tie a blood knot in the field.

I can and have seen many that can tie the Surgeon's knot.

I am asking because I want to better myself,

I practice the blood knot and I think I will just buy the tool?
