SECOND REPLY-

I don't rant often, but that death to "Environmentalists"
post really set me off.

The entire Southeast Saltwater Fishery is largely dependent on
"Environmentalists". The redfish population had been decimated.
Through efforts of the CCA it has been restored any revitalized.

In Florida, the gill net ban is "an "Environmentalist" project
and has made our fishery one of the best in the nation.

The striper fishery in the northeast had also been decimated.
"Environmentalists" were largely responsible for the legislation that
rstored this fishery. In fact, the last several years have been the
absolute seasons on record.

I would be hard pressed to name any freshwater river in the East
that is near a population center that has not benefited greatly from
the actions of "Trout Unlimited", "Sierra Club" , the audodon society",
Clean water Action Committee, "River Keepers" etc. In fact, the Clean Water
Action Committee, one of the oldest and most effective organizations on the
country, started as the Clean Water Coalition of Sport Fisherman. It is not
a non profit because its sole purpose is to work with local and state
governing bodies to ensure a clean water supply.

I would love to know how many people on this list fish in waters that have
not been improved and effected by some environmental effort.

How is it possible to be a fisherman and not be an "Environmentalist".
When you fish aren't you careful to leave nothing but footprints. Don't you
go out of your way to clean up your mess and ANY OTHER that you find on the
water or on the path. I personally always have a baggie in my pack or Yak
for just that purpose.

Jimi- I am extraordinarily proud that I am an "Environmentalist". That I
care deeply about the health of the planet and our country. I have
diligently taught my children to have the utmost respect for the
Environment. I spent years in Scouting and Camping teaching others the same
need for that respect. The "Creator" is counting on me to be a good
steward.

When you deep six me in shark infested waters, at least have the decency to
do so in a paddle powered craft made only of wood. You must lash us together
with natural fibre rope. And don't you dare use anything other than rocks
to weight us down If you use a fossil fuel powered vessel composed of fiber
glass or any chemical compound based material, you either have jump
overboard with me or join the "Hypocrites" club.
