Our Club bought a case of outdated tippet material for a real good
price. All boxes were sealed and in original packaging. The case came
from a distributor and had been on the shelf. We all had the same
problem , breaking off. I lost a lot fish till I finally discarded it.
I had used the same brand and never had any problems with fresh
tippet. That was one case. Case # 2,
I won some name brand tippet material at a show. It was outdated also,
not the same brand I use. It was as bad as the other outdated tippet.
Lots of brake offs.
I generally discard my tippet if it is over a year old.
To answer your question, YES.

Can anyone give me some basics on the size tippet needed for small
flies?
What I mean is like, a 4 X will go threw a XXX size hook eye, but not
a XXX
size hook eye. I am looking at some flies down to 20 or 22 for this
San Juan
trip, (been a long time since I tied one that small on), and need to
check
to see if I have the right size tippets on hand or if I need to find
some
prior.
