Subject: [VFB] Fishing report
Dot and I went to the VFW breakfast this morning, it rained last night and
it was real cloudy.
On the way home the sun started to shine and there was no wind. When we
got to the house, I noticed the river was down and smooth as glass with
trout rising. I decided that I would go fishing. It was about 62 degrees.
Dot don't like me getting on the river by myself so I called a young
couple that I got started flyfishing this spring. They said they would be
at the house in an hour or so. I went out the back and noticed the river
had come up some, looks like they had released some water and it was just
getting to my house.
I went down to the dock to run the outboard before they got here.
Needless to say it got contrary.. It had not been run in about five weeks.
It had started to cloud over again. The clouds, river and the outboard
should of been an omen. Got it squared away before they got to the house.
We suited up and got on our way. Neither of them had caught a trout yet.
We went up to Tucker Shoals, water was not too high to wade there. In the
meantime it had clouded over real heavy and looks like more rain headed
our way. We got to Tucker headed the boat to the bank and stepped out. I
got them situated on a seam and I headed down a ways on the bank. As I
started to get in position to cast , the water that was knee deep, I
stubbed a rock with my boot , lost my balance and fell. My legs came up
from the air trapped in my waders. my butt was on the rocks but I could
not get my legs down in order to get up. Art's wife came to my rescue but
by that time water had come in from the top of my chest waders. needless
to say, I had no control on the urge. Now I was soaked from the neck down
to my toes. I thought I could fish for a while but after a dozen casts I
decided I had to get back to the house. It is about a half mile. down
river. Got home and took a hot shower. Got my waders turned inside out and
hanging. I have not made up my mind yet if I will use my other pair if
waders and go back out. I left Art and his wife at Tucker and have to go
back up there to pick them up later.
I would like to get some fishing in today, I will not be able to get on
the river for a few weeks. By that time winter will be set in pretty good
so today is fish or not.
