Well, these are from the uppermost neck of the capes and I simply can't handle them with my big hands nor do I have a size 32 hook to use as a guide. Then you have the Mustad versus Tiemco versus...size differential. No, I'm not trying to tie 32s and they are posted to DonO at this time. I guess the only way to size 24-28s that I CAN tie is to use the hook. When I was trying to size 32s for DonO, I was sending him every feather that fit inside the gape of a 28 and probably some larger after it became daunting.

Never mind how you size them, where did you get them ??
bend the hackle round the shank of the hook , it should be about 1.5 times the gape of the hook.
