Thanks Rick.
I heard that fewer participants have been buying memberships this year than last. While nobody is twisting arms or begging, the VFB is not a cheap site to maintain both financially and time-wise. I know Byard loves the VFB and it would be his last posession to ever give up but, between you and me, he isn't a rich man financially but is rich with friends, his love of fly tying/fly fishing and enjoys every opportunity to get together with fellow VFBers. Now's a great time to go to http://virtualflybox.com/members/index.php and sign up!
If you can't part with $35 this year, please make a donation of what you can. Hey, it costs $5 for lunch at a fast food place and I'll bet you don't blink OR go there as often as the VFB. It's OUR list even though Byard owns the rights.
WE, the participants, make it what it is and with a membership you get... (1) One high-qualtity VFB cap/hat in your choice of colors -or- (2) $15 gift certificate (thus, dues are really only $20) to shop at my favorite tying supply store...Line's End www.linesend.com -plus- (3) A 5% discount on each order, freight-free on orders over $60 -and- (4) membership card.
If nothing else, shop Line's End www.linesend.com for your tying needs in support of the Virtual Fly Box before you go elsewhere. EVEN IF YOU DON'T SEE IT, BYARD CAN GET IT AS FAST AS MOST PLACES FILL REGULAR ORDERS. I used to buy stuff I didn't see elsewhere until I found out how fast LE turned "special" orders around!
Yep, like some here, I get the spam from Cab*l*s and others and saw midge diamond braid and pearl core braid a bit ago. I asked Byard if he had it... not in stock... but he got it to me through BEFORE my order for non-tying stuff came from Cab*l*s PLUS his prices are never higher than anyone, usually lower, PLUS the free shipping is worth a good 10% or more in discount when comparing. Don't forget the "Bargain Bin" (current specials include hooks, hackle, Whitlock dubbing, wingers, brahma hens, turkey biots, artic fox, beads... at discounts to 45%!!!) or to note the fabulous Daiichi hooks are priced lower than retail everyday.
Okay, if you can't spare a dime, I understand. Then take time to tell your local tying friends or group about the VFB and lets build the membership numbers. Some of us can afford a few bucks and others can't, but we can all share our love for this site with those we meet or know.
One last thing...yes, I'm as guilty as anyone, lets make an effort to get as much fly tying content on the list as we can. The friendly banter is okay but we MUST offer MORE of a resource to those just visiting or lurking hoping for advice or information if we want the VFB to grow and attract both novice and expert. My resolution is too share as much as I can that I have learned from many of you and others. Together, we can ensure the VFB lasts a long time.
Thank you all for your support in any manner you are able! (Especially, Byard's selfless contributions)

Subject: [VFB] dun
Time for the monthly dues dun from the unoffical dues dunner.
Is it time to renew for you or time to sign up the first time?
This is a great value.
