You know Byard, that's one heck of a bomb to drop on us. To say that he's going to be missed on this list is such a small statement, that it is not funny. I had never met him in person, but have had a couple of email conversations and an online chat once or twice as well. He was on my 'meet and fish with one day' list. It was very possible as his camp is in the middle of Pennsylvania and I live in the lower left corner looking at a map.

Up until I had read your post, I had been feeling sorry for myself. I have the luxury of working on Easter Sunday and will be missing my family gathering while I sell auto parts to basically nobody. I don't feel as bad, while I'm mourning the loss of one day with my family, Daves poor family will be mourning the loss of Dave.

Byard, if you can, please pass on the condolences for me and the entire list. He will be severely missed. I will be getting a card on Monday and including a memorial fly to be donated to his memory.

I am deeply saddened this morning. My very close personal friend and
a friend to all on this list is gone. David Murphy passed away
earlier this morning.

Murf was one of the kindest most generous persons I've ever had the
pleasure of knowing. I first met Dave at the Fly Tying Symposium
about 10 years ago. We fished, tied flies and caroused ever since.
Those memories will stay with me forever.

Condolences may be sent to his lovely wife Lena and family at...

I will miss Dave so much.
