MY leader/tippet rolls well, but I have the same prob about getting caught up in the guides as well. The main thing is to ensure the leader/flyline knot is clipped as short as possible...different with furled leaders I am sure but the same thing applies. You don't want anything to catch up in the guides. one or two false casts (short and fast) and it usually clears itself. My main rod is also a 8' 4 weight.
I have been dying to try making furled leaders. What is the best site to get info from on how to make them?? Thanks, R ______________________________________________ Reuven Segal B. That brings up another problem I have.. Not being able to use long leader/tippets.. I fish with an 8ft rod so I do my own furled leaders at 4.5 ft, then add 3.0 ft of tippet material for a total of 7.5 ft, as if I use a leader/tippet combo longer than my rod I get it messed up in my rod eyes every time...
