Dear Deer Hair Rebel Breaking all the rules might work if all we did was to tie mice (and yours are very good I might add) however, speaking for myself, I want to tie flies that catch fish not fishermen. I tend to agree with Henk and Chris Helm regarding the "advice" or rules for spinning deer hair but at the same time nothing including "rules" is cast in stone

I break every rule there is just to make sure I break all the rules. I don't comb out the fuzz, use those threads, tie on a bare hook (legs are attached), pack with a stacker, do two loose wraps, etc. etc. It's these voices in my head telling me not to conform... ( I learned to tie in the 60's, so I naturally buck the establishment) Mice come out OK, too. DOnO
