I think I got this backwards.. My rod I use most is slow action as it bends from the handle to the tip, and the one I'm talking about trying is stiffer (fast action) and only bends on the tip end 1/3 of the rod, Chuck

Slow down the cast. Some rods just don't like heavy
flies.
