Dave, First, be sure you have the right size loop for the line you are putting it on. Push the loop together so that it will expand (open up) Hold the end (that is coming apart) together with your fingers so that it stays together over the end if the fly line. Work the fly line into the braid a bit at a time till is gets a good start by pushing the braid against the tip of the line so it expands each time you push it. It should go on easy from there.
