I would love it!! Wow! Thank you. I was thinking of you as I went
through the wood store. They have a new catalog out for 2007 that I grabbed
for you. I priced a mini lathe just out of curiosity and they weren't too
bad. I think it's just like fly tying though ... If you get into you will
end up spending more money than you save but it would be fun to make your
own. Saltwater poppers are pretty expensive to buy but appear to be easy
to make.
I picked up a book in the wood store that had all the secrets to pinewood
derby cars. I never would have thought of baking the wood. We already
polish the axels and the tires with graphite. We're just having too much
fun.
It's funny though... That's how I got started in fly tying. Steve dragged
me to the fishing stores for spin gear and bait and I wasn't interested but
I had seen someone tie flies and that caught my attention. I love to fish I
just don't like to use bait ... except maybe worms with the kids. When I
saw the book on turning lures it got the wheels turning but I really don't
have time right now for another hobby so I'll have to put it on the back
burner. I told Steve it might make Henk nervous about sending his packages
here if I buy a wood lathe ... LOL :)
Warm Regards,
Deb
