Don: So you wrap the thread, hackle and chenille, then wrap the copper wire
over all that???? I went to the VFB homepage many times, but the video is
small, and I am half blind, so it's hard for me to see exactly how it's
done..I'm sure if I saw it in person I'd go "duhhhhhhh"...Cause i saw the Lefty
video and so the way he did it was easy to pick up for rMe..Now, on the 13 Bead
head nymphs I just finished, I used a long fibered synthetic dubbing, and i
made a "rope" out of the dubbing, tied that in, spun it around the thread ,
then spun that onto the hook shank. Is that rope dubbing?? It seems to hold
great..Thanks, Chuck

  Chuck,

See my rope-dubbed wooly-bugger on the home page of the VFB, under articles.
My version uses a copper wire core for the body material and the hackle, but
the wire is not twisted with the material. THis makes for a very tight body
and it's also indestructable and weighted at the same time. It's also
extremely fast.

I also use the same method for near-indestructable saltwater flies, using
bite-tippet instead of wire.

I wish I could have made SB this year to do the rope-dub clinic. I'm also
glad that project is finished. Now I can relax a little.

These are indestructible.. Specially if you twist a copper wire in WITH the
chenille, thread and hackle feather.. Wrap that all in and it will catch 100
fish, Chuck

Lefty Kreh calls it the "Indestructable Wooly Bugger". Instead of
wrapping your chenille and then your hackle, you tie both in at the back of the
hook, and twist them together into a rope. Maybe even with a dubbing loop or
the long tag end of your tying thread added for extra strength. If you're
using different colored chenille and hackle you could blend the colors.

You got it! Although a sixe 24 circle hook might be pleaseing.

Now I know how to layer the tri-colors but is there a way you can get
them to inter-mingle? I saw something somewhere that looked like two colors
were twisted while being tied. Any idea.

Tie a 2500 series OTB Humvee WB on a circle hook.

I know nothing about NASCAR except it has fast cars running in
a circle

BUT I will do some research and tie something ( Woolly Bugger).
Now if you were talking HUMVEES, Jeeps, duece and a halfs , APCs, all military
color(olive, tan and brown), then it would be a tri-color WB. Any cars and
drivers like this?
