Don: So you wrap the thread, hackle and chenille, then wrap the copper wire over all that???? No no no... I went to the VFB homepage many times, but the video is small, and I am half blind, so it's hard for me to see exactly how it's done.. Sorry, attend Sowbug next year. Get personal tutoring. I'm sure if I saw it in person I'd go "duhhhhhhh"...Cause i saw the Lefty video and so the way he did it was easy to pick up for rMe.. Lefty's way works fine, but is not my way. My way is easier, faster, and more versatile. Now, on the 13 Bead head nymphs I just finished, I used a long fibered synthetic dubbing, and i made a "rope" out of the dubbing, tied that in, spun it around the thread , then spun that onto the hook shank. Is that rope dubbing?? No, that's called a 'noodle'. And then you roped-dubbed the noodle. One too many steps. Any yarn or long-fibered material will 'noodle', even without the thread core. 'Rope-dub' is almost a misnomer, because the core is the key, not the twist. The core, be it your thread, wire, whatever, does not twist with the dubbing. This gives you a stable platform to work your dubbing on (not pre-roped of noodled) for many different effects, even from the same dubbing. It seems to hold great..Thanks, Chuck All types of dubbing ropes and noodles hold great. You'll have to see my way done in person to see the advantages.
