The way I interpreted what he said:
"My version uses a copper wire core for the body material and the hackle, but the wire is not twisted with the material."

is to leave a hunk of the wire sticking out the back of the hook, run the thread up front, then rope-dub everything ONTO the wire. Wrap the dubbed wire for'rd and tie it off.

Now if DonO answers, he can tell me if I translated it properly from the Cajun.
