Chuck,
I think you've been schooled on the list already, I wonder how bad it
was offlist. You gotta get past your youthful competitions - save
them for list members -- we'd enjoy it. You gotta remember, you're
not fishing with your brothers any longer. Winning and losing are
measured differently now. I think the rest of the league would tell
you that you're losing. Numbers don't count any more. I understand
the difficulty in laying down the rod. Earlier this year, in tight
conditions, I wouldn't let my two girls pick up the rod and instead
we shared 1 rod -- I would hook the fish, they would land and release
-- we all got fish and we all had fun. By MY rules, I'm beating you
-- I have my 3 1/2 yr old ASKING me to fish. SO - to get them
fishing w/you - throw out numbers, it's apparent that you're much
better than they are fly fishing wise and they need some
tutelage. When you go next time - catch a fish, and put the rod
down. WATCH and help the person correct what they're NOT doing right
until they catch a fish. Once they catch a fish, you get to catch
another. Until they catch again. Once you're done - no comments
about whom caught more - they're not your brothers and won't be
riding your ass like Zoro either, besides, you're more than man
enough to take friendly, family ribbing if either of your boys beats
you - even your wife. Chuck, you'll be winning when they ASK YOU to
take them fishing, not when you're begging them to do it buddy.
Keep us informed on how it goes,
Garry

Folks: I have what would be a GREAT problem if it were not my wife
and kids that this happened too.I took my wife, my 13 yr old, and my
16 yr old fishing this week..All on separate days.. All to the same
lake.. First trip, my 13 yr old.. I caught 52 to his ZERO... Then,
the 16 year old.. It was 17-4 as we had to leave cause of a storm.
Next, I smoked my wife like a cheap cigar 55-6 LOL...And this has
been happening all this year..I tell em it is my lucky Auburn hats,
but I don't really know what it is.. I tie flies and give them the
SAME fly. we are in the SAME boat, same lake each time like I said..
And all three of them can cast as far and as accurate as I can
(cause the fish are IN the grass, so if you land it over a foot away
from the grass you catch nothing)... This may sound silly, but they
are saying that they don't wanna go fishing with Me again and I hate
just fishing with the dog. What can i do to make them catch more
fish??? I know I have an advantage as I am in front of the boat
running the trolling motor. And they cannot swap out with Me yet
cause in Bama now you have to have a boat license for ANY boat that
has a motor, electric or gas, and I am the only one with a license
right now. But, I'm even backed them into come of the best coves we
fish so they would get the first shot at the fish... I don't know
what to do cause like i said, i LOVE to win, but not to the point
that they are threatening to make me go by myself...Anybody else
have this "problem"??? Chuck
