I had the great blessing to take my 4 1/2 year old daughter fishing this weekend. I started off by getting her going on casting her little zebco spincast outfit and when she was settled I'd throw my fly in. Then I started to notice she wasn't really having fun. So I secured my gear and we went to where she wanted to go, and I tied on what lures she wanted to tie on. She wanted me to cast so I did. And you know what we started catching peacock bass and she had a blast. Sometimes she'd want to fight them, sometimes she wanted me too. I didn't care. I was just happy that she was having a great time and was excited.
I'd put it up there as one of my best fishing days ever. The smile on her face was the absolute best. And when we went home and she told mommy about it she talked about how WE caught fish. I was truly blessed by being able to share the thing I love with one of my favorite people. I consider it a trophy day when my daughter tells everybody about how much fun she had and asks me when we're going to go again. Ken
