Okay I am ready to be humiliated. I noticed that there are furled flourocarbon leaders for sale. I use and understand thread furled leaders. They are soft, supple and still turn over. However, the flourocarbon furled leaders sounds heavy and anything but supple. Anyone use these that can give me some insight.

Well, not fluorocarbon per se, but I have made and used countless nylon monofilament furled leaders (22 to 6 strands of 0.12 mm or 6X mono). These are much more supple than straight (extruded OR knotted) mono tapered leaders of the same weight, and are in fact much more shock absorbent than anything else, including thread furled leaders. They are stiffer than thread furls of the same weight.

Also on thread leaders from those that use them. Have you had experience with colors being spooky to fish?

No, not whatsoever. Although to be on the safe side, these days I make all of my thread furled leaders out of light grey 6/0 UNIthread, under the premisse that under most circumstances, fish see a light sky, a leader will be a dark silhouette against that sky, and dark colours may exacerbate that a little. I have also made thread furls out of white tying thread. As said, I don't think there is a real difference, likely because all thread leaders present an opaque (=dark) silhouette anyway.
