I'm not sure of the advantage of having the film online. Several
films have been released online, including the recent "Teach" (
http://www.teachnow.org/downloads.html ), and they don't seem to get
much interest. It does appear to make sense to release in theatres,
DVD and iTunes subscription.

Unless someone is wealthy and wants to experiment, a feature film
takes at least six months for scriptwriting, pre-production,
production, and post-production. And can often take over a year of
full commitment. Unless you also work as hard to make your money
back, you won't be able to make more films.
