hey matt,

some random thoughts ...

1. it seems like we are dealing with an 90-10 or  80-20 type rules
here.  not  surprising really.  i disagree that there is a method (or a
need) to bridge this gap. it appears normal and natural to me.

2. considering the relatively small window of data,  one should only
consider the percentages and not the individual data points (i.e., if
you choose another  18.5 day period , you'll get similar percentages,
but different people).  Note that there are very vocal people over the
past year who are obviously missing from your list solely because of the
time period chosen.

3. this  does not take into account  the "nature" of the messages
analyzed.  many are merely informative and not necessarily opinion.  i
imagine that the issues you are concerned about center mainly around
opinions. of course many messages mix both option and fact.

4. i think your conclusions are unsupported by the 'stats' you
present.   you are also carrying out biased research: you have a
preconceived notion and you are looking for data to back it up. i
recommend  a more "scientific" approach.

5.  your data presents a very one-dimensional view of the situation.
you do not appear to be measuring how members of this group are
interacting with others outside of this forum (i.e., this  mail list is
just one  of many mechanisms that we employ;  I routinely communicate
with many active videobloggers who are "on the list" but rarely or never
send emails.).  An obvious point: a lot of folks here have vlogs and
use those as their *primary* means of communication.
