I found a guy at http://www.fingertipsmusic.com who picks three "legal download" songs (not just CC) that he likes every week. There's an email mailing list and an RSS feed, and a list of past picks on the site. Some good songs on there - lots of different stuff.
I'm a terrible repeat offender for raiding my commercial CD library. It's hard to stop, for lots of reasons - mostly time spent searching. There must be many other of these kind of blogs, reviews & highlights around. If anyone else reguarly reads or subscribes to anyone like this to take some of the legwork out of finding music, please post URLs. What I find most difficult about using sites like Opsound and CCmixter is that most of the music is too dramatic or techno to use in my short videos. Don't know where I can find more light-hearted music though...
