"conventional" wisdom (begging forgiveness) has it that the folks who attend
ALA Midwinter are
higher up on the food chain in their respective organizations and actually make
purchase
decisions...or more importantly, they are the folks who will later be asked to
consider
requests from their line staff for new products and services and are able to
make decisions
about feasibility because they can have already seen some of the products and
services
available. And as you point out, traveling to San Diego in January from
Chicago is probably
win-win.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
