The location in KC was ideal, too! Lots to enjoy within walking distance or a short cab ride -- the Plaza a few blocks away, a park right across the street, Westport bars & shops just up the street. And as Farhad mentioned, free cocktail hour each night at the Embassy Suites, plus the Boulevard Brewery was fun, Missie B's was a hoot... AND we got to preview dozens and dozens of fantastic new docs! What more could a person want?
Seriously, NMM is a wonderful event. Some of you who are from smaller institutions might think it's not worth your while, but I would argue that it is. If a budget is relatively small, what better way to ensure that you're spending it wisely than to preview in depth, talk with other purchasers and snag conference discounts? Come along next year! And yes, more thanks to Ursula and crew are due! I saw so many things we will start to order this week. And I got to meet my San Antonio colleague Farhad Moshiri who works across town but our paths had never met! I lived in KC for many years and it was good to be back among friends and former colleagues. Looking forward to next year. For those of you who have not attended NMM, try to budget for it. It is a really good return on investment. I cannot endorse it enough. Ursula, put me down on your list to volunteer next year! VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
