This thread is certainly not useless! If you do set up the git repository, then whomever wants to use it can. (They're still free to flame mailing lists on how git is better or worse than some other update method.) If Bram chooses to stay with his current method, and you can pull Bram's patches, then all git users should be happy. Well until they want to branch, backport and merge...
