It's a good suggestion, but the fundamental problem is that someone who loses interest in the mailing list just stops reading. They then spend a few weeks deleting stuff, then they post here. They don't notice the footer on each mail, and I don't think they would notice a FAQ. I realise that people won't notice the following, but I've just added a small "how to unsubscribe" item on: http://groups.google.com/group/vim_use/web/vim-information Old timers will know to look in the header of any message, where you find: List-Unsubscribe: <http://googlegroups.com/group/vim_use/subscribe>, <mailto:[email protected]> Perhaps we could change the footer to: You received this message from the "vim_use" maillist. http://www.vim.org/maillist.php has information and how to unsubscribe Having two names ([email protected] + [email protected]) might confuse some people (they wouldn't expect information about "[email protected]" to be relevant for a Google Group). It might help to add a line with the Google Group name, but that risks getting too wordy. In short, I don't think there's a solution (however, I've kept your suggestion in case we want to reconsider a monthly/weekly short-FAQ about the list).
