Wow! that was totally unexpected. I never thought this post will have any response, well this is great! :)
After reading, seems people like Dejavu Sans family, I will try it for a time and let's see, anyway, Terminus font it's recommended. On the Sans Vs. Serif war, seems the Serif win in paper and Sans family wins onscreen. The "dark on light" or "light on dark" war is different. I feel people really like light backgrounds, but in TFT screens it's just too much light firing to my eyes, even using #999999 and #aaaaaa grey tones, the contrast seems simply ugly. I mainly use CRT screens where the color is much rich than on LCD and TFT screens IMHO, and color seems more clear on dark backgrounds than light ones, so it's my choice. I use a modified version of evening colorscheme. Only change the foreground for a #aaaaaa value and the background is #505050, and looks quite good on my actual screen (LG FLATRON F700P). I read somewhere that dark backgrounds are more relaxed to the eyes, but the really thing is about find the best contrast so the differences between letters and background must be very near but still readable.
