I noticed you posted a link on the wiki and in the Vim article
on Wikipedia (although on WP, links should either be as <ref> or
in the "External links" section ... someone might fix that in
due course).

I had a very quick look at the cookbook and immediately noticed
the high quality. I also admired how you found exactly the right
place and right style for putting the link on the wiki. I intend
adding your link in the "Did you know" section on the main page
in June (Swaroop's book featured there for a few months). For
those interested, see:

My reaction was exactly the same as Raúl: I would have preferred
your contributions on the wiki. What you said about the wiki
having a lot of messy stuff without focus is perfectly correct.
It will stay that way until people fix it. There's plenty of
scope for adding material to the wiki if anyone feels inspired
to write a book. We could even use a separate namespace if
desirable (URL like vim.wikia.com/wiki/Recipes:Page_title).

I totally agree with your analysis; I would go a little further
and say that many Vim tips and guides are more of a "look at how
clever I am" presentation than an honest attempt to engage a new
user and show them wtf they should do. Many of my edits on the
wiki have been aimed at reversing that trend; here is one try:
