Oh, IIRC once upon a time I worked as a programmer for a company where even programmers would punch timecards coming and going. I don't remember the details though, that was a long time ago, in 1983 maybe. The company will care, if it means that the task will be completed in even only 7 times the time, if it means that the job won't be finished in the contracted time and that the customer will get it at a bonus or even be paid damages. However the outcome may be that Joe Programmer may lose his job as a result, so see my post earlier in this thread, below Bram's.
