Hi, Regarding the Boot issue with the Colour Classic II: does the motor of the hard drive keep running after power-on or does it spin-up and down a couple of times before it goes silent ? If so: the hard drive is faulty.
Start with an OS 7.6 Boot disk and see if the HDD still appears on the desktop.
