I guess I am wrong, I didn't know that ADB also had 5V output, the
only problem left would be the amperage, and if it has failsafes that
USB has (Overcurrent, short prevention etc).

@ the OP, I would be willing to pay for shipping on your broken one,
so that I can see how hard it would be to mod it
