Well, Out of necessity rather than curiosity, I had to install a new System on my CC. But the good news is that system 7.5.5 runs perfectly and is quite faster than 7.6.1 ever did.
OP hijack: I picked up a Performa 6200CD from the thrift store for $5. No old mac monitor or adaptor, so I can't test it out, but there's no death chime and it seems to "work." This got me thinking and searching, and I found this on the LEM Color Classic mini FAQ, and now I want to corroborate it: "...I found a page that (I think) talks about replacing the Color Classic's logic board with the board from a Performa 6200/100, which would give it a 100 MHz PPC 603 CPU. Unfortunately, the page is in Japanese (again, I'm not sure). Could someone take a look at it and figure out what it says? The URL is <http://maxuscomputer.com/ 070.html>... -- Wade Martinson" Unfortunately, the site he refers to no longer available, but thanks to the Wayback Machine, I got this: http://web.archive.org/web/19970113161843/http://www.maxuscomputer.com/070.html and thanks to Google Translate, it just says that this particular vendor will start to upgrade older systems to the 6200 Is this something I could try and do? (or should) Thanks! -Christian -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
