A Q700 might actually be slightly faster for a lot of stuff if you stick with an older OS like 7.x. Once you move up to 8.1 and beyond, though - which I highly recommend if you get a 7100 board - you're better off with the 7100, since a Quadra can only run a max of 8.1.
