I don't think Macs send a motor start signal at all.
(With the possible exception of the dual channel
PDS Fast SCSI II card for the Quadra 900/950. Three
SCSI busses and not enough room inside to load them
all up!)
Third party SCSI cards may, dunno if any NuBus ones
like the ATTO or Jackhammer do.
