-- Thanks Ed I did try to do both things-create new user or even go on as guest- setting the IIci to allow a guest to log on. I also tried to change pw. The IIci wouldn't allow a pw change without putting in the old one. And I could not make it accept a new user or a guest. It kept going to default no matter what I highlighted. The final solution as you might have read was to pull some pref files: I just dumped 3 items: Appletalk prefs, Users and Groups Data file and AppleShare prep. which allowed me to change pw.
