You are right about every postscript printer having a ppd, but not all macintosh operating systems may support them. I wouldn't know where to put a ppd in a system 6 system folder for instance. Or is there a way I don't know about? But like you said system 7 or 8 should support them. You are very probably right. It seems logical because postscript is a language and when two devices speak that language they should be able to communicate. However Appletalk support is necessary for networked printers. Modern printers support printing over tcp/ip. I wonder if 7.1 can be made to print over tcp/ip.
