*IF* you can communicate with it in the protocol is wants.

Right now most all printers support BSD print spooling, and the new
thing is IPP (Internet Print Protocol) like that supported by CUPS
(www.cups.org).

True.  I'm doing much the same thing on my home LAN, but with UNIX
instead.  The printers can't do much of what the server can make them
appear to do.
