The CUPS system is very nice, especially if you want to set up a fairly large and busy print server. The new IPP mechanism for printing is nice, but CUPS still supports the old BSD LPD clients. Last I checked there was no Mac client support, but it wasn't ruled out. Just needs someone to write it.
