I used to work in a place where they did some Mac publishing, and while
it wasn't speedy, it was a lot faster printer over ethernet to a server
or network printer than doing it locally.

I'm not sure how fast a Mac application on 68K can print to ethernet,
but it shouldn't be too bad.

Hopefully I'll be testing that soon.  My Mac IIci has 128MB of RAM,
so I just need some software to test sending a large image.
