I think my misconception about these CRT tubes is that they are small, therefore cannot hold much of a charge. I'm no electrician, but next time I'm working with this sort of thing I'll have to be careful! That's incredible.. from starting up the classic? Did you still have the case open while it was powered on, after working on the circuitry or something? Would I be correct in the assumption that there isn't much room inside the beast? I've had a lot of trouble opening mine up, and I only got a small glimpse of what was inside. Personally I'd use my external 540mb SCSI drive that I have lying around, with a classic SCSI adapter (if that's what you call it). Maybe the Mac classic will turn into the grandfather clock of tomorrow haha. I can't remember whether the classic has a full-screen clock screensaver... if so, then I could be right! :) Scott Holder Wrote: >Lessee, old games, basic internet station, book reader... there's plenty it >can do. >If all else fails there's the ol' doorstop ;) Old games: I've found it can run Crystal Quest and Simcity the original quite well. Oh and Shufflepuck Caf! What a classic, can anyone suggest any other vintage games that would run well? I can't quite remember, but does the old gal have a built-in modem? And what browser would I look at running? For use as a doorstop - sure, why not. Might be a bit difficult to get the door open but :) Mark Benson >The Quadra and Centris 650 are the same apart from the name. Again the >hard disk is upgradable to anything 50-pin. I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that the upper limits for these computers on ram is 48mb. Don't quote me on that, however. As a matter of fact, after much stuffing around with extensions and virtual memory and the like, I managed to get my Centris to burn 1 in 2 cd's off an old, non-apple SCSI burner. Has anyone else pushed their older machines to do this? As a matter of interest, does anyone know how to change my e-mail address on this list? I'm sick of the message that appears below, and will most likely start using my home address. Sorry for the long reply guys! Cheers!
