most anything with an '030 processor can be set up under freebsd as a firewall.  they 
can
also be used as time servers (though you could do that and some other useful work) and
print servers, and they are perfectly usable for a number of other things.

by the way, i'd be interested in the macs that need a home if i were close enough to 
pick
them up, shipping is the killer unfortunately.
