One other big advantage of the Type 3 drums over Type 1 drums is that they
are not held on to the ends of the axles with those famous 250+ ft-lb nuts.
Instead, a hub/flange is bolted in place instead.  The outer flange of the
hub is drilled/threaded for the stock 4on130mm bolt pattern but the drum
simply slips over the hub like they do on the rear drum brakes on a pick-up
truck.  This makes doing proper visual brake inspections and/or repairs a
much simpler task.
