This is typical. We must remember that our cars are all at least thirty
years old, and as such, our tires aren't nearly as popular as they once
were. There are nearly *ten times* as many different tire sizes available
today compared to thirty years ago, which makes manufacturing and stocking a
major pain (and it's getting worse). Try finding either 145/80R12s or
155/80R12s today. They were found on Swifts/Metros/Sprints/Firefies for a
number of years before they changed to 13" wheels, and this was only about
fifteen years ago. Those cars are still found *everywhere* on the road, but
very few tire manufacturers make those sizes anymore.

Subject: [vintagvw] Finding Tires

I've spent the last couple of days on a unsuccessful hunt for 165R15
VW-sized tires in my local area.
