Yes, but it won't fit up to the lid gasket at the bottom, and you might have interference with the bumper...and, possibly, the air cleaner. I believe the '67 and up lids bulge out further than the older lids to give more room for that big filter.
You will also lose the latch. The twist latch uses a different striker, welded to the apron.
