Sammy,
I put a new 1600 DP into my 62 Karmann Ghia a couple of years ago.200mm
flywheel, you need to grind 4 areas that interfere. I used a Black and Decker
rasp that fitinto my variable speed drill. The rasp was like a small cylinder
with a shaft coming out of it that you place in the drill motor. So nice and
slow you use the teeth on the rasp to gently grind away the metal inside those
points on the bell housing. The teeth on the rasp are similar to a cheese
grater. It cuts hunks out slowly and without HEAT. You could make a cardboard
template to check clearances. After you fit the motor turn it to ensure the
flywheel is not binding. It worked like a charm. Only take what you need
off...don't overdo it. Check RAMVA newsgroup archives too.
