Well, it wasn't "foil", it was the cheap engine compartment insulation 
on my '63 Bug one time (fixed with a couple of fender washers and sheet 
metal screws) and a paper towel left in the back of my '58 Ghia another 
time.

Unless it's glued down, that fan WILL suck it in, sooner or later - and 
always at the worst time...
