List, We have been selling the Compufire units for six or seven years. About six months ago, Compufire went bankrupt and was acquired by new owners. I won't bore the list with the extensive details, but the new owners are effectively Larry, Moe, and Curly, and have no clue on what they are doing. Apparently they thought it would be cool to own a new business, and are really learning as they go. Maybe they'll have a clue couple years, but right now they are morons.
We had so many issues with defects and them not knowing what they sent out in what they received, that we finally wrote off the company and resumed carrying Pertronix, which we carried until around seven years ago. Ironically, we stopped carrying Pertronix van because the Compufire quality control was better, LOL. I cannot in good conscience sit here quietly and let people think they are getting a decent product with Compufire (now), when this is so far from the truth it's stupid. The most recent fiasco with Compufire was that they installed the little magnets in the rotor wheel upside down, so the units could not function. So you go to the headache of installing the Compufire, only to have it not work and wonder what else you broke. And if you try to contact Compufire to get a new magnet wheel, you get Larry, Moe, or Curly on the phone and you're tearing your hair out. They do not care about your situation, and they are to get your money. This is their attitude, which is why we dropped them like a hot rock Unless you are a glutton for punishment, at this point Pertronix is the only decent unit on the market which we can recommend. I strongly discourage the use of Compufire, or any of the other Chinese manufactured copies of these points replacement devices. One of the main advantages of Pertronix is that many of their units are available in six Volt versions, which we do stock.
