Volks,
Ive noticed something funny (or maybe/most probably Im terribly wrong
somewhere??)
When ever I filled my stock air filter with oil upto the mark designated
(the 'rim' inside the filter) the engine choked up ie it felt like airflow was
restricted to the point where it refused to run properly. If I lowered the oil
level it ran fine. The oil level is low to the point where Im pretty sure it
does not soak up the mesh inside the top part like it should to trap dirt
particles. I do notice dirt caked on the sides and all but mostly the oil
remains clean.
The air filter has a good amount of the mesh left inside. I have a couple of
others lyin around too but I think I have the best one on the engine.
The engine is nothing fancy, just a stock 40 Hp 1961 unit. No performer by
any standards but I was thinking the open element airfilter I saw would help it
breathe easy plus provide better filtration under my circumstances.
Thoughts welcome. Also please suggest what I should do to the stock filter in
order to make it run like it should.
