The link is great and has quite a bit of info. Snooping around, I see in
the pics there that the gearboxes have a separate number actually
stamped/punched into the metal much like the engine numbers. If memory serves
me right, I only read the raised numbers which I see now are only the part
numbers and not worth much. I saw the numbers a few weeks ago when I visited
the bone yard. Had noted down the numbers as a super 'box is rare and now a
friend wants to buy one.
It is very much possible I have the wrong number as you suggest. The 'box
was burried under mounds of greasy heavy stuff so the best I could do was not
good enough. I have a spare 67 box with me and shall 'practice' finding and
noting down the numbers in the comfort of home! The preceding alphabets would
be a good clue to the ID of the 'box.
