Ray,

My '70 -- which the PO said had never been in an accident -- had "HECHO EN
MEXICO" stamped on the tops of the front fenders underneath the turn
signals. I'm sure not all of them have that, but that's one dead giveaway.

Subject: [vintagvw] German Fenders

Hi All,

Here is a question to shake us all out of the winter doldrums.? Can anyone
tell me what features I should look for on 68-72 fenders to determine which
are German, etc?? I am most interested in the rear fenders right now.? I saw
somewhere that the pre-68 rear German fenders had drain holes in the bottom
rear of the fender.? Any features like that on the later model fenders
specific to German?? How the fenders are rolled under, etc?

Thanks!

Ray
